About This Project

This project is part of a residential complex located in Parekklisia. A suburb area which currently undergoes a rapid construction development. The specific plot lies on a hill and offers spectacular views of the sea and the Saint Raphael’s marina from above. The ground level is characterized by the intense landscape inclination. The proposal cooperates with the site’s height differences and develops in three levels. Main concept was to welcome outdoors into the interior and strengthen view frames. Translucency features are located in certain areas of the house allowing direct relationship with the surrounding garden, water surfaces and views.A translucent volume interferes throughout the house, from north to south.  As the users enter the site and the house’s interior, this volume enables constant visual contact with the sea across. This axis hosts mostly circulation programs, such as the main entrance, lobby area, and corridors. Living rooms, dining area and kitchen are placed in the southern side and maintain interaction with the swimming pool, outdoor sitting spaces and the sea view.  The ground floor contains also an office space, utility rooms, a guest’s room and bathrooms.First floor is approached by the staircase or lift and through the small-scale bridge which crosses the glazed volume. The programs here include the sleeping spaces and balconies which surround them. All the balconies are protected by folded aluminum panels. Unfolding the panels, the bedrooms are exposed to the Mediterranean Sea view. When sun shading is needed, the panels can be folded back and close completely, creating a protective skin for the house contributing also to cooling down in warm days. Basement concentrates supportive uses, such as storage, utility rooms, gym, and also offers passage to the exterior tennis court.
